What should I wear?
Your normal clothes are fine to start out.
Wear something that makes you feel good and is easy to move in.
Wear shoes that are comfortable and stay securely on the foot (avoid flip flops). It is best to wear shoes that will slide on a wood floor - try to avoid wearing shoes with a sole made of rubber or other material that will grip the floor. A slight heel is nice for ladies.
If you decide to continue your lessons regularly, we recommend purchasing ballroom dance shoes with a suede sole
Do I need a dance partner?
Whether you choose private lessons or group classes, it is not necessary to have a partner.
PRIVATE DANCE LESSONS: your instructor is able to guide you through the techniques and steps to succeed.
Male or female - we have the perfect instructor for you based on what you want to learn.
GROUP DANCE LESSONS: there are many individuals who attend group lessons who do not have a dance partner.
In group we often rotate people so everyone has the opportunity to dance with a partner.
Here is an excellent article that explains the benefit of both private and group lessons.
Investment / Cost
Social dance parties are $10 each and group dance lessons run an average of $15. For private dance lessons it all depends on what you want out of your dance time and what direction you want to take it.
Often the question people are really asking is "How long before I'm good at Ballroom Dancing?"
Here is an excellent article that addresses the time and investment you might expect.
