Rotita Dupree Cunningham was born and raised in Richmond, Virginia. She first began her dance journey at a young age at Pine Camp Cultural Arts Center as a part of the Richmond City Dance Troupe under the direction of Annette Holt and Rodney Williams where she has competed across the country and performed in various venues such as the Epcot Stage in Disney World. “Ro” along with the Dance Troupe performed with many celebrities such as Peabo Bryson and Samuel E. Wright and for others like Douglas Wilder and other government officials of Virginia. She later gained more dance training at West End Dance Academy in Glen Allen, Virginia before moving on to high school. During her teen years, she performed with the Richmond Ballet and was accepted into the Center for the Arts at Henrico High School. During her training in high school, she was granted the opportunity to train with ballet and modern companies such as the Harlem Dance Theatre and the Alvin Ailey Junior Division. She continued competing and student teaching where she then received professional credentials through Dance Olympus Competition and Dance America Competition. She then took a break from the competition scene where she began  her college education and choreographing for Cheer and Dance Teams in the Richmond, Maryland, and D.C. areas. “Ms. Ro” then relocated to the Hampton Roads area in the Fall of 2008 where she formed Gator Velocity Dance Team at Thomas Nelson Community College and choreographed for Edustar Performing Arts Academy summer program in 2008, 2009, and 2010. Ms. Ro took another dive into performing where she danced as a Busch Gardens Williamsburg cast member of the show "Mix It Up” in 2012. Continuing her fast track of choreographing, she began to expand herself by teaching and choreographing at other studios such as Margie's Williams Studio of Dance, SI Dance, Dynamic Movements School of the Performing Arts, Platinum Dance Arts and Academie de Ballet where she has won a number of awards for her choreography and dance instruction. Her dance instruction has granted opportunities for several of her students and their dance careers. She has students that have gone to become college dance majors and perform with traveling dance companies, experience dance intensives across the country such as the Rockettes Dance Intensive and the Joffrey Ballet Chicago Dance Intensive and perform with celebrities and organizations such as the NFL and NBA.
She continues to perform across Hampton Roads and instructs across the state of Virginia. She currently instructs at other dance studios and venues such as SI Dance and the YMCA! Dance is where her passion lies and she will continue to share her gifts and talents with as many people as she can.
