MUSICALITY FROM A DANCER’S UNDERSTANDING

Musicality, Timing and Rhythm are terms sometimes used interchangeably by dancers. Rather than scare students away with hours of understanding music before you even take your first step, most teachers hope that with repetition and practice, students will eventually understand it.

Men and women also learn to feel music differently because of cultural expectations and social conditioning. This workshop will set things right….

Using Cha Cha, Waltz and Salsa music, we will learn to hear the beat, find the 1 in the music and also hear, count and understand the rhythm.

A good dancer understands that their dancing is not a reaction to the music but rather another instrument in the orchestra!
