More About Cameron Johnson
Hailing from South Africa, Cameron started his dancing career at the tender age of 5, under the tutelage of his parents. By 1985 Cameron became the South African National Junior Champion and remained the champion in through 1989. Two years later Cameron became the South African Adult Champion and remained so for the following three years. He represented his country in world championships in both Denmark and Hungary.
In 1996 Cameron turned pro and became the National champion three years running. As a professional Cameron represented his country at the French Masters (3rdplace finish) and Open Fleetwood Championship, Blackpool (6thplace finish). As a Pro/AM Cameraon also competed in Buenos Aires (1st place finish). Cameron also taught social and competitive dance at the Robern Dance Studio in Cape Town, South Africa.
In 2000, Cameron was invited to immigrate and teach in the USA, where he has since made his home as a US Citizen. Cameron taught at several studios including: Fred Astaire Dance Studio in Mamaroneck, New York. the Alvin Ailey American Dance Theater School in Manhattan, New York, the Sandra Cameron Dance Center in Manhattan, New York, Dance Studio 101 in Manhattan, New York, Maria Fiora Dance Studio in Stamford, Connecticut, the Just Dance Dance Centre in Manhattan, New York, and Stardust Dance Productions in New York.
In 2019 Cameron brought his expertise to DanceSportVA in Virginia Beach where he teaches private and group instruction. Cameron is proficient in International Standard, International Latin, American-Style Smooth & American-Style Rhythm. Cameron specializes in Pro/Am Competition, Social Dancing & Wedding/Show dance Choreography.
Besides English, Cameron has conversational proficiency in Africans.
